It feels like deja-vu, but Gamevice isn’t totally giving up the fight against Nintendo. Where it challenged the company last year for the full Switch design, this time around it’s focussing more on the Joy-Cons themselves.
Gamevice’s controls are built to fit around a variety of mobiles and tablets to enhance the mobile gaming experience. As gamesindustry.biz points out, unlike Gamevice’s products the Joy-Cons are specifically tailored for the Switch and the Switch only.
So, it’s a similar idea but not identical software which infringes the existing patent. In the recently released USITC statement there’s been no investigation as of yet. “By instituting this investigation (337-TA-1111), the USITC has not yet made any decision on the merits of the case,” it states. “The ALJ will make an initial determination as to whether there is a violation of section 337.”
